A Wave for Alex…

// April 16th, 2010 // 21 Comments » // News

To start I would like everyone to know that “Choices (A Wave for Alex)” was written and recorded for close friends and family.  I was honored by the Capozza family’s request to release the song to the public in honor of Alex’s 18th birthday April 4th . Their hope is that it will cause us to make choices knowing that they can have lasting affects!

That said, thank you Anika, Mike and the entire Capozza family for allowing me to write for and from the perspective of their son. In the hours it took me to produce the song, I felt like I raised him, steered him from wrong, allowed him to make his own decisions and mourned his loss. Again, as the 4/20 season is upon us, wisdom and moderation is very key to survival. Alex had a future to him promised by no one, as nothing is promised in this age of broken vows. lol @ my team telling me not to get too deep in what I have to say, but that song really meant a lot to me.

The Binge 3: Charles Hamilton’s Last Mixtape

// March 25th, 2010 // 18 Comments » // Music, News

As the miliseconds to the release of “The Binge 3: Charles Hamilton’s Last Mixtape” flutter past, I can’t help but say thank you. To all of my cuddle buddies as mentioned in “Deuces”, to my physical ailments I make out with on “She Speaks”, to my yesteryear revelations with “JapanIsLike”, and to the innervisions I am blessed to share on “Prada Body Bag”. No feeling is quite like knowing this is my LAST mixtape. I can play the Shakespearian one and say “last” as in, “let’s see if you rap n1ggas survive to your next studio session after the muthaf*ckin intro”, or be realistic and say “I am taking music more serious than ever, and the mixtape game has to grow past it’s adolescence”. But that would be a bit too rough on the ears of people who already think I’m egotistical. So let’s do it like this. (more…)
